Your discharge

Your discharge from the hospital is always decided in consultation with your attending doctor. Before your discharge, clearly discuss what care you will need to continue at home. Sometimes additional care may be necessary, such as home nursing or family support.

We recommend you to ask following questions upon discharge:

  • Who can take you home?
  • Is anybody home when you arrive?
  • Can you take on all daily tasks?
  • Is there a needy person present during your stay at the hospital? Should there be help for him/her?
  • Is there a need for additional tools (walker, wheelchair, crutches, ...)

A good preparation of your discharge ensures a smooth transition to the home situation.
